{"id":4131,"date":"2023-07-17T17:15:21","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T15:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fbf.fr\/en\/?p=4131"},"modified":"2023-11-13T16:02:06","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T14:02:06","slug":"nicolas-namias-will-be-appointed-chairman-of-the-french-banking-federation-from-1-september-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fbf.fr\/en\/nicolas-namias-will-be-appointed-chairman-of-the-french-banking-federation-from-1-september-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicolas Namias will be appointed Chairman of the French Banking Federation from 1 September 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nicolas Namias, Chief Executive Officer of BPCE, succeeds Philippe Brassac, Chief Executive Officer of Cr\u00e9dit Agricole S.A., and will serve as Chairman of the French banking federation (FBF) as of 1&nbsp;September 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicolas Namias is a graduate of France\u2019s Ecole Nationale d\u2019Administration, the Stanford Graduate School of Business (Executive Program), ESSEC Business School and the Institut d\u2019Etudes Politiques de Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He began his career in 2004 in the Treasury department of France\u2019s Ministry for the Economy and Finance. In 2008, he joined Groupe BPCE, where he was the Group\u2019s Head of Steering for Commercial Banking and Insurance until 2012. He was then appointed Advisor to the Prime Minister on the financing of the economy, businesses, and international economic affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicolas Namias returned to Groupe BPCE in 2014 as Head of Strategy and subsequently Chief Financial Officer of Natixis. In 2018, he became a member of the BPCE Management Board, first as Chief Financial &amp; Strategy Officer, then, starting in 2020, as Chief Executive Officer of Natixis and, lastly, as Chief Executive Officer since 3&nbsp;December 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Slawomir Krupa,<\/strong> Chief Executive Officer of Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale, will become Vice-Chairman of the FBF and <strong>Philippe Heim,<\/strong> Chairman of the Executive Board of La Banque Postale, will remain Treasurer. The other members of the Executive Committee are : Jean-Laurent Bonnaf\u00e9, Director and Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas; Philippe Brassac, Chief Executive Officer of Cr\u00e9dit Agricole S.A.; and Nicolas Th\u00e9ry, Chairman of Cr\u00e9dit Mutuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 2001, the FBF represents the 330&nbsp;French and foreign banks that operate in France. It covers all banking and financial regulatory questions at the French, European and international level, as well as all subjects relating to banking\u2019s role in society. It also has offices in Brussels and Frankfurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicolas Namias, Chairman of the FBF as of 1&nbsp;September 2023, commented as follows: &#8220;<em>I would like to thank the FBF\u2019s Executive Committee for naming me to succeed Philippe Brassac as Chairman of the Federation, and I would like to commend Philippe for his commitment to fostering a constructive dialogue with all stakeholders. The French banking sector is characterised by its soundness and its strategic role. It plays a major role in supporting households, businesses and public actors, and in financing the French economy. As such, it is a key player in our economies\u2019 environmental, technological and societal transitions.
