In his new role, he will be head of the \u201cBanking and Financial Affairs, Europe and International\u201d division and oversee the \u201cInvestment banking and Markets \u201c, \u201cSustainable finance\u201d, \u201cTaxation\u201d, \u201cBanking and accounting supervision\u201d, and \u201cEuropean and international institutional relations\u201d departments.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his new role, he will be head of the \u201cBanking and Financial Affairs, Europe and International\u201d division and oversee the \u201cInvestment banking and Markets \u201c, \u201cSustainable finance\u201d, \u201cTaxation\u201d, \u201cBanking and accounting supervision\u201d, and \u201cEuropean and international institutional relations\u201d departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fran\u00e7ois Lefebvre joined the FBF in April 2024 as Deputy General Manager, in charge of the \u201cRetail and remote banking\u201d, \u201cDigital, payments and operational resilience\u201d, and \u201cLegal and compliance\u201d departments. He helped foster a better understanding of the role played by banks in financing the economy, especially in the defence sector. He also helped highlight the strengths of the universal banking model, which provides French customers with high-quality services at a lower cost than elsewhere in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fran\u00e7ois Lefebvre began his career in 2004 at the French Treasury. From 2013 to 2019, he worked in the Finance Department of the World Bank. Before joining the FBF, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Bpifrance Assurance Export from 2019 to 2024. He is a Sciences Po Paris graduate, holds a degree in law and an MBA in Finance from ESSEC Business School, and is an \u00c9cole nationale d\u2019administration (ENA) alumnus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fran\u00e7ois Lefebvre is a member of the FBF Executive Committee, alongside Maya Atig, Chief Executive Officer, Ermelina Debacq, Deputy General Manager, and Andr\u00e9-Guy Turoche, AFB Director of Social Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The French Banking Federation would like to express its sincere thanks to Etienne Barel for his commitment to serving the banking industry in France and for his many achievements, particularly within the European Banking Federation over the past six years.
